Enabling Intelligence & Industry
The tools that make progress across every other frontier possible.
A tool, not a thesis
Artificial intelligence, robotics, advanced materials, bioengineering, compute and new manufacturing methods sit across everything we study. They may change how targets are discovered, proteins are designed, manufacturing is controlled and complex systems are operated.
They can also produce convincing results that do not survive independent testing. We care about what a tool helps accomplish, how defensible the advantage is, and whether customers will pay for the outcome. How often a word appears in a presentation does not count.
Today we consider these tools inside our current focus, for example in discovery and in clinical measurement. A dedicated investment strategy would be a later step.
What we ask
- Can AI, robotics and compute increase the rate of discovery?
- Can new materials and manufacturing methods make deployment cheaper?
- Which advantages survive independent testing?
